Buc-ee's Gas Discount: There Isn't One (Except the Credit Card)

Buc-ee's has no loyalty program, no points, no app and no membership. One price, posted on the sign, for everybody. The only published fuel discount is the Buc-ee's credit card run by TDECU, and it takes either 5% off fuel or 10¢ a gallon off depending on which card you hold.

This is worth stating plainly because people search for a Buc-ee's rewards program and find articles implying one exists. It does not.

How we know there isn't one

Not finding a rewards page is weak evidence. So here is the stronger version: Buc-ee's own site manifest, its FAQ, its fuel page and its About page contain no rewards, loyalty or membership page of any kind. The FAQ covers gift cards, credit cards, fuel types, card holds and store policy, and never mentions a rewards program.

The credit card route

TDECU is Texas Dow Employees Credit Union, and it issues the co-branded Buc-ee's cards. Per TDECU's published Buc-ee's Credit Card Benefits Program terms:

  • TDECU Platinum Mastercard, Onyx Mastercard and Visa Platinum: 5% off fuel purchases, plus 5% off in-store purchases.
  • TDECU Classic Mastercard and the Business card: 10¢ a gallon off fuel.

The discounts are "given automatically at the pump" — not as a statement credit later.

Which is better depends on the price of gas. At $4.00 a gallon, 5% is 20¢, so the Platinum/Onyx/Visa cards win easily. Below $2.00 a gallon the 10¢ card would win, which tells you how unlikely that is to matter right now.

How to sign up

There is no loyalty enrollment, because there is no loyalty program. For the card discount, Buc-ee's own fuel page states "TDECU membership required" — so that means joining the credit union first, then a separate credit application.

Watch-outs

The card discount does not combine with anything. TDECU's terms are explicit: "The discount is not valid with other discounts or coupons offered by Buc-ee's." Since Buc-ee's runs no program, there is nothing chain-side to combine with anyway.

TDECU can change or end the program. Its terms reserve the right to "change, cancel, modify, restrict, waive, or terminate any portion" of the program at any time.

Gift cards stop working on fuel. Buc-ee's FAQ states its gift cards "Cannot be used for fuel after April 1, 2027."

Cashback apps are outside all of this. Neither Buc-ee's nor TDECU publishes anything about them, so their treatment is unknown.

Member price vs. the sign price

One posted price, no member tier, nothing to scan. The TDECU card is the only exception, and it works at the pump rather than on a statement.
