Murphy USA Gas Discount: Drive Rewards or Walmart+, Not Both

Murphy Drive Rewards is free, and its points redeem at the pump for up to $1.00 off a gallon on up to 25 gallons. The one rule Murphy publishes in plain language is an anti-stacking rule: you can use Murphy points or your Walmart+ fuel discount, never both on the same fill.

Murphy's own FAQ says it without hedging: "Customers CANNOT earn or use Murphy Drive Rewards points on fuel when they choose to use their Walmart+ fuel discount. Customers CAN earn and use Murphy Drive Rewards on merchandise in the store."

How to sign up

Free. Download the Murphy Drive Rewards app and register. It is free on the App Store and Google Play, and there is no membership fee. Rewards are claimed in the app and applied at the pump.

Which should you choose at the pump?

That depends on your points balance, and Murphy makes it hard to work out in advance — see the warning below. The Walmart+ fuel benefit is published by Murphy as "up to 10¢ per gallon." If your Murphy points are worth less than that on the gallons you are about to buy, use Walmart+.

The conversion rate is not published where we can check it

This is the honest gap on this page. Murphy's rewards pages are built in the browser and its FAQ omits the rates. The one figure we have is Murphy's own: its Facebook channel published "Murphy Drive Rewards helps you save 10 CENTS a gallon for every 100 points." That is the chain speaking, but on a social post rather than a terms page, and it carries no cap or expiry with it.

We are not publishing an earn rate. Figures for points per gallon pumped and points per dollar in store circulate in program write-ups we cannot attribute to a named, dated publisher, and they appear on no murphyusa.com or murphydriverewards.com page we could read. So they are not here.

The sources also conflict on the cap. Murphy's own page says 25 gallons. Unattributed summaries of the terms and conditions say 20. Where the chain's own page speaks, we have followed it.

Point expiry: no figure. Nothing was published on any page we checked, and the claims in circulation — a 90-day unclaimed-point expiry, a 12-month inactivity forfeiture — cannot both be right and neither carries a source we can name. We are not publishing either.

Watch-outs

Murphy can change the program at any time without notice. Its terms reserve that right explicitly.

The Walmart+ figure varies by state. Walmart publishes the benefit as "up to 10¢ per gallon," which is the only part of it we can source. The state-by-state split below that ceiling is described in write-ups we cannot attribute to a named, dated publisher and is confirmed on no Murphy- or Walmart-owned page, so we are not putting a per-state number on this page.

Where the stations are. Murphy's March 2026 investor materials describe an "expanded 1,800-plus store footprint" across 27 states. Most sites are kiosks next to Walmart Supercenters, concentrated in the South, Southeast and lower Midwest. The larger-format banner is Murphy Express.

Member price vs. the sign price

Same sign for everyone. Murphy's published flow is a rollback: identify at the pump, and the redeemed reward reduces the posted price for the capped gallons. Murphy's broader pitch is low posted prices generally, with the loyalty discount layered on top of that.
