Pilot Flying J Gas Discount: 10¢ a Gallon in the App

Pilot's app is free, and it gives car and RV drivers 10¢ off every gallon of gas. In Pilot's own words: "Save the offer in the Pilot app at the start of every month and scan it at the pump when you're filling up."

Read that sentence twice, because it is the whole catch. This is a monthly-activated offer, not a standing discount. Forget to save it in September and September costs you full price.

How to sign up

Free. Download the Pilot app and create an account. The app is not optional for the car and RV discount — the offer has to be saved inside it and scanned at the pump.

Professional drivers can get a physical rewards card from a team member in store and earn on diesel without the app.

Don't be misled by "up to 65¢"

Pilot markets "Save Up to 65¢ Per Gallon," and that figure is footnoted on Pilot's own pages as belonging to its diesel and fleet credit offering — the same footnote says owner-operator fleets can save an average of $3,876 a year on diesel. It is not the retail gas discount. If you are filling a car, your number is 10¢.

What professional drivers get instead

The commercial diesel side is a separate points program, and it does not overlap with the consumer gas offer:

• Earn 1 point per gallon by swiping the rewards card at the pump.
• Activate PushForPoints in the app each month, then level up once a day with a qualifying 50+ gallon diesel fill, reaching up to 4 points per gallon after six qualifying fills.
• Fuel 1,200 gallons in a month to unlock Elite, which starts at 4 points per gallon immediately the following month and does not reset monthly.
• Points redeem for food, drinks, select merchandise, showers and parking.
• A shower credit comes with every 50+ gallon fill; Shower Power unlocks at 1,000 gallons in a month.

Canada mirrors this at 4,800+ litres.

How to stack it

Nothing current is published about combining the 10¢ app offer with credit cards, fleet cards or cashback apps. Treat it as unknown.

The 2022 terms limited the 10¢ to gasoline and auto diesel, excluding DEF, propane, commercial diesel and in-store purchases — which tells you the consumer discount and the commercial programs cover different fuel and do not overlap.

Watch-outs

The state carve-outs need re-checking. Pilot's 2022 press release launching the 10¢ discount said it was "Void where prohibited (not valid in Wisconsin and New Jersey)." Those exclusions are plausible and consistent with other chains, but they are from a 2022 document and are not restated on Pilot's current page. Confirm in the app before you rely on the discount in WI or NJ.

Other app perks are worth knowing: rotating food and drink offers, 10% off all food and drinks for military verified through ID.me, and a birthday hot meal and drink.

Where it works. Pilot publishes "more than 900 locations in 44 states and five Canadian provinces." The affiliated One9 Fuel Network extends reach through partner travel centers.
