QuikTrip Gas Discount: How QT Pay Works

QT Pay is free, and it takes a set amount off every gallon plus 5% off in store. QuikTrip does not publish what that per-gallon amount is — anywhere on its site. The FAQ says only that "you will save the available ¢ per gallon every fill-up," because the amount is set by market and by promotion.

So the honest answer to "how much does QT Pay save" is: check the app in your own market. Anyone quoting you a national QuikTrip cents figure is quoting a number QuikTrip does not publish.

The old points program is dead

If you find a guide describing QuikTrip Rewards points, it is stale. Per QuikTrip's own QT Rewards page, points earning ended 30 September 2024 in the last remaining market, and "All QuikTrip Rewards points will expire September 30, 2025."

How to sign up

QT Pay exists only inside the QuikTrip mobile app. Create and verify a QT account, open the QT Pay tab, tap "Setup Now," then connect a personal US checking account.

It is a bank link, not a card. QuikTrip describes QT Pay as "an ACH system form of payment that is directly linked to your checking account. There are no bank holds or checking fees with QT Pay. There are also no annual or monthly fees." No credit check. Linking goes through Pay with Spire using Plaid instant verification, or micro-deposits that take one to three business days. QuikTrip states it "does not access, keep, or store your bank account information."

At the pump, scan the QR code on the pump screen with the QT Pay scanner in the app. In store, scan the QT Pay QR code at checkout.

How to stack it

QuikTrip advertises stacking directly: "Stack QT Pay Savings with other promotional discounts!" The asterisk on that line reads "Exclusions may apply. See QT Pay Terms & Conditions for more details."

A credit card cannot be part of it. QT Pay draws from checking, so there is no way to also earn a card's gas-category bonus on the same fill. That is the real trade-off: QT Pay's discount against whatever your card would have paid you.

If you split a transaction between QT Pay and another tender, the in-store discount applies only to the portion paid with QT Pay. Nothing is published about cashback apps.

Watch-outs

Do not trust the old launch numbers. CSP Daily News, July 2024, reported a 25¢ a gallon introductory promotion running to 28 February 2025, and roughly 5¢ a gallon plus 5% in store as the everyday rate afterward. The 25¢ window has closed, and the everyday figure appears on no current QuikTrip page — two-year-old launch coverage, not a current rate. Do not plan around it.

Personal checking accounts only. No savings, money market, corporate, foreign or prepaid accounts.

The 5% in store has exclusions: age-restricted items (alcohol, tobacco, lottery), bottle deposits, previous purchases, taxes, shipping and handling.

One genuine non-discount perk: QuikTrip publishes a "Guaranteed Gasoline" engine-damage warranty covering all its motor fuel.

Member price vs. the sign price

QuikTrip publishes no separate posted price for QT Pay users. The saving applies to your transaction after you scan the pump's QR code.
